Deadline is 31st December, so there is still time to have a go.

I like your final render, very nice lighting. What is that? V-Ray?
Hi Alex,
Thanks for dropping by. Yes it is indeed V-Ray. I’m so impressed with this engine and the way they’ve been able to integrate it into Maya. Cheers.
hi
Kiernan
nice.. maya tips..
how can you differ vray and mental ray..
I am now pretty good with mental ray.. do i need it to use in character rendering for production..
is it useful ?
Thanks GKS, I think mental ray and V-Ray are quite similar in a lot of ways. They’re both very good renderers but in terms of Maya – I think V-Ray’s implementation is a lot more polished than mental ray which can save a lot of time, effort and money.
You could try it out yourself – they have a free demo. I love V-Ray but it may not be for everyone!
hi
I love this lighting and can you see my works and say some advice…
thanks
Thanks for the kind words Fereydoon. I really like the old derelict school and camera matched desert castle on your site. Especially the little details and textures in the school – Good stuff!
hello dear friend,thanks a million
I always use other’s opinion.I just learn lighting in mental ray ,I was wondering if you’d mind giving me some tips about mental ray,I can’t make shadow like area shadow in mental,If you help me i’ll get so happy…thank you
Hi, the best thing to do would be use skylight portals in mental ray. Very much used in the same way as the renders above that are done in V-Ray.

Hi Isaac,
You can download the scene here (and more as well):

However, there is no tutorial though, it’s just on offer for download to be able to experiment.
